Since March 2017, Joshi Konoike Transport & Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (JKTI) has been operating as a container train operator (CTO) on a route linking the three major Western India ports—Nhava Sheva, Pipavav, and Mundra— to the Delhi region in Northern India, where numerous production bases are located. Each port is located a long way from the Delhi region, at the average distance of around 1,300 km. Container train transportation has huge advantages over trailer transportation when routinely transporting large volumes of freight. Currently, JKTI handles almost 5,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) containers per month.
What’s more, in March 2019, JKTI launched an automobile freight train operator (AFTO) service. JKTI will continue to expand its business in railway transportation business in India, where the automobile market is keep growing, aiming to provide an environmentally friendly means of transportation with outstanding operations management.
