In our aim to achieve both environmental maintenance and industrial growth, we have rolled out our industrial waste recycling business. At our Group-owned plants, we have established a unique system of extracting materials, without generating any secondary waste, from industrial waste that is difficult to just sort and recycle. By using our limited precious resources more effectively, we are making efforts to support clients’ environmental business and contribute to the global environment.

Perfect Recycling System
KONOIKE Group company Eco Innovation has established the Perfect Recycling System, a unique technology that recycles iron, zinc and carbon from industrial waste without generating any secondary waste. Using an RC resource circulation furnace*, waste that used to be disposed of in landfills is recycled into good-quality iron and zinc materials. The CO2 generated during the treatment process is also kept to a minimum. We also process wastewater sludge and electric furnace dust. We can handle work nationwide, if conditions are met**, and mainly in Honshu.
* RC resource circulation furnace: A rotary furnace 3.9m in diameter and 80m long. The maximum temperature inside the furnace is over 1300℃.

Recycling of mixed waste that is difficult to sort and recycle
At KONOIKE Group company ASR Recycling Kashima, we recycle industrial waste using a gasification melting furnace, which is based on high-temperature processing technology developed in the steel industry. We handle a wide variety of items, and are especially suited to treating mixed waste that is difficult to sort and recycle, such as ASR (Automotive Shredder Residue), home appliance recycling plant residue, etc. We have also acquired ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems.

Pursuing recycle quality
Eco Innovation, which has acquired ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems, won the Award of the Director-General of the Industrial Science and Technology Policy and Environment Bureau at METI’s FY 2008 Awards for Resources Recirculation Technologies and Systems. ASR Recycling Kashima has also acquired ISO 14001 certification and constructed an environmental health and safety management system.
